Breast Lift in Turkey: Achieving Your Ideal Shape with Sanamentum
Overview
The Ultimate Guide to Mastopexy in Turkey
A breast lift, clinically known as mastopexy, is a transformative surgical procedure designed to correct sagging (ptosis) breasts, restore firmness, and create a more youthful contour. Factors such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight fluctuation, and the natural aging process can cause the breast skin to lose elasticity, resulting in a droopy appearance. The procedure involves removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reposition the nipple and areola to a higher, more aesthetically pleasing location on the chest wall. It is important to note that a breast lift primarily focuses on shaping and lifting—it does not significantly increase breast volume. If volume has been lost, the procedure can be combined with breast augmentation (implants). Turkey has become a global hub for this operation due to its combination of high medical quality, experienced surgeons, and remarkable cost advantages. Thousands of international patients, particularly from the UK, choose Turkey annually for safe and successful breast lift surgery.

Why Choose Turkey for Your Breast Lift?
Quality, Affordability, and Expertise
Choosing where to undergo cosmetic surgery is a crucial decision, and for women in the UK, Turkey offers an overwhelmingly compelling proposition over domestic options. The country has established itself as a leading destination by balancing world-class medical standards with significantly lower costs.
Affordable Excellence
The most striking advantage is the cost. Breast lift prices in Turkey are often 60-70% lower than those found in private clinics across the UK. This massive saving allows patients to access similar, or in many cases superior, quality medical care and service without the financial strain. This difference means that even factoring in flights and accommodation, the total cost remains substantially lower than in the UK.
Superior Medical Infrastructure and Quality
Turkey’s commitment to medical tourism is evident in its infrastructure. Many hospitals and clinics, including those partnered with Sanamentum, hold international accreditations like the Joint Commission International (JCI), the gold standard for healthcare quality and safety. High hygiene standards, state-of-the-art technology, and internationally recognized medical protocols ensure that patients receive care of the highest calibre.
Highly Experienced Surgeons
The volume of international patients undergoing cosmetic procedures in Turkey has resulted in a concentration of highly experienced plastic surgeons. Turkish board-certified surgeons in breast aesthetics often possess thousands of case experiences, offering a level of proficiency and specialised focus that is difficult to match in many other countries.
Seamless Patient Support and Convenience
For international patients, the journey needs to be stress-free. Clinics like Sanamentum offer comprehensive services that make the entire process easy, including VIP transfers, English-speaking patient advisors, 4★/5★ accommodation arrangements, and dedicated support, transforming the experience into a smooth and comfortable health retreat.

You will know the full cost from the start, with no unexpected fees to worry about.
Dedicated 7-Day Post-Op Care and Continuous Remote Consultation
We recognise that aftercare is the biggest concern for international patients. During your 6-7 day stay in Turkey, you will receive 7-day dedicated post-operative care from our on-site team and nurses, ensuring a comfortable and safe recovery. More importantly, your dedicated patient consultant remains available for continuous remote consultation and support even after you return home. This comprehensive support system ensures you are never left alone throughout your recovery journey.
Breast Lift Techniques & Incisions
Choosing the Right Method for Your Body
The ideal breast lift technique is determined by the degree of ptosis (sagging) and the amount of excess skin. Your surgeon will carefully assess your needs during consultation to select the method that provides the best shape with the most minimal scarring possible.
Periareolar (Donut) Lift
- Incision: A single, circular incision is made around the areola (the dark circle around the nipple).
- Best Suited For: Patients with only very mild sagging.
- Scars: Scarring is minimal, hidden within the border of the areola.
- Lift Effect: Provides a limited degree of lift and is often insufficient for moderate or severe cases.
Vertical (Lollipop) Lift
- Incision: Combines the periareolar incision with a vertical incision extending from the bottom of the areola down to the breast crease (inframammary fold).
- Best Suited For: Patients with moderate sagging who require more significant shaping and excess skin removal.
- Scars: The scar is shaped like a lollipop. While the vertical line is visible initially, it fades significantly over time.
- Lift Effect: Offers a more noticeable and effective lift than the Donut technique.
Anchor (Inverted-T) Lift
- Incision: Involves three incisions: one around the areola, one vertical line down to the breast crease, and a third horizontal incision along the crease itself (forming an inverted-T or anchor shape).
- Best Suited For: Patients with severe sagging and a large amount of excess skin or significant breast deformation.
- Scars: Leaves the most scarring, but the scars are generally concealed within a bra or bikini.
- Lift Effect: The most powerful technique, providing maximum lift and comprehensive reshaping for a taut, well-formed breast.
Crescent Lift
- Incision: A small, crescent-shaped incision is made along the upper edge of the areola.
- Best Suited For: Very minor sagging, or to correct slight nipple positioning. It is often combined with augmentation.
- Scars: Minimal and generally inconspicuous, located above the areola.
- Lift Effect: The effect is very limited and is usually reserved for the most minor corrections.
Ideal Candidates – Who Is Suitable for a Breast Lift?
Assessing Your Suitability
The ideal candidate is someone who is physically healthy, emotionally stable, and has realistic expectations about the outcome of the surgery.
- You Are a Good Candidate If:
- You have noticeably sagging breasts due to factors like ageing, gravity, weight loss, or post-pregnancy changes.
- You are primarily concerned with the shape and firmness of your breasts, rather than increasing their size.
- Your weight is stable (not undergoing a major weight loss journey).
- You do not plan to become pregnant in the near future.
- You are a non-smoker, or willing to quit for at least 2-3 weeks before and after the surgery, as smoking severely impairs healing.
- You May Not Be Suitable If:
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding (you must wait at least 6 months after stopping breastfeeding).
- You have serious, uncontrolled chronic health issues (such as severe heart, lung, or uncontrolled diabetes).
- You have a BMI (Body Mass Index) significantly over 30, as this increases surgical risks.
- You suffer from severe body dysmorphic disorder or have unrealistic expectations.
Your final suitability will be determined through a detailed consultation with a Sanamentum surgeon.
Preparing for Your Breast Lift Journey to Turkey
A Step-by-Step Patient Guide
Preparation is key to a smooth surgical experience. Sanamentum guides you through every step, ensuring you arrive in Turkey completely ready for your procedure.
Medical Preparation
Your journey begins with a free online consultation where you discuss your medical history and desired results. The surgeon will review your photos and expectations to determine the best surgical technique (Donut, Lollipop, or Anchor). Before surgery, you will be asked to undergo routine blood tests, and potentially a breast ultrasound or mammogram, for your safety and to ensure the best outcome. You must stop smoking and drinking alcohol at least 2-3 weeks prior to surgery. You must also discontinue blood-thinning medications and supplements (like Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Vitamin E, fish oil, etc.) 7-10 days before the operation. Finally, you must fast (no food or drink) for at least 8 hours before the procedure, typically from midnight.
Travel and Logistics
The standard stay for a breast lift in Turkey is 6-7 nights. Sanamentum coordinates all essential logistics for this period. We arrange your accommodation in comfortable, recovery-appropriate 4★ or 5★ hotels. Upon arrival at the Istanbul airport, a Sanamentum representative will greet you with a personal sign and transfer you directly to your hotel via VIP vehicle. All transfers between the hotel and the hospital for your operation and post-op checks are handled privately. We also provide a useful packing list, recommending loose-fitting clothes that button or zip up the front (to avoid lifting your arms), comfortable pyjamas, and any required personal items.
Final Preparations in Istanbul
The day before or the morning of your surgery, you will have a crucial face-to-face consultation with your plastic surgeon in Istanbul. During this meeting, the surgeon will perform a physical examination, finalise the surgical plan, and answer any remaining questions. If you are having a combined procedure with implants, you may even try on different sizer implants to visualise your final volume. The final step is the surgical marking, where the surgeon draws lines on your breasts to indicate the precise location of the incisions and the new nipple position. This meticulous process ensures clarity and safety before you proceed to the operating room.
The Surgical Procedure – What to Expect on the Day of Surgery
Your Journey in the Operating Room
Understanding the day of surgery can significantly ease any pre-operative anxiety. Here is a step-by-step overview of the breast lift procedure at a Sanamentum partner hospital.
Morning of Surgery
You will arrive at the hospital, typically in the early morning, having fasted. After check-in and settling into your private room, you will have final meetings with your plastic surgeon and the anaesthesiologist. The surgeon will review the plan and markings, while the anaesthesiologist will discuss the general anaesthesia and address any concerns. Once all preparations and necessary pre-op tests are complete, you will be taken to the operating theatre.
Anaesthesia
The operation is performed under general anaesthesia, meaning you will be completely asleep and feel no pain throughout the entire procedure. A highly experienced anaesthesiologist remains with you constantly to monitor all vital signs—heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels—ensuring a safe surgical environment. You will wake up only after the procedure is successfully completed.
Surgical Incisions & Technique
The surgeon will proceed with the incision technique (Periareolar, Lollipop, or Anchor) previously agreed upon, depending on the severity of the sagging. Excess skin is removed, and the underlying breast tissue is tightened, reshaped, and lifted into a higher, more projecting position. The nipple and areola are then repositioned to their ideal, natural-looking location. If necessary, the areola diameter may also be reduced to achieve better symmetry. The goal is to provide the most aesthetic and lasting contour correction possible.
Closing and Dressing
Once the reshaping is complete, the incisions are meticulously closed with fine, aesthetic sutures, often using dissolvable stitches that do not need to be removed later. The surgeon aims to place the closures discreetly to minimise visible scarring. Sterilised dressings are applied, and you are immediately fitted with a special medical compression bra. This surgical bra helps reduce swelling and provides crucial support for comfort and optimal healing. Small, temporary drains may be placed if the surgeon anticipates fluid build-up, but these are typically removed before you are discharged. The total operation time is usually 2 to 3 hours.
Recovery Room & First Night
After surgery, you are moved to the post-anaesthesia care unit (recovery room) where nurses monitor your vital signs as you gently wake up from the anaesthesia. It is normal to feel groggy and slightly chilly. Pain management begins immediately via IV fluids to control any discomfort. Most breast lift patients stay in the hospital for one night for observation. Nurses perform regular checks throughout the night, ensuring you are comfortable and managing any pain effectively. The following morning, your surgeon or their team will conduct the first check-up, inspect the incisions, and remove any drains. Provided everything is stable, you will be discharged to your hotel to continue your recovery.
Recovery Timeline and Comprehensive Aftercare
Your Road to Full Recovery
Recovery is a gradual process, but with Sanamentum’s dedicated 7-day post-op care during your stay and continuous support after you return home, you will feel supported every step of the way.
Immediately Post-Op (Days 1–7 in Turkey)
During your stay in Istanbul, your mobility will be limited, and you will need ample rest.
- Pain & Discomfort: Expect tightness, swelling, and mild to moderate pain for the first few days, which is well-managed with prescription painkillers provided in your package. Most patients report feeling much less pain than expected.
- The Surgical Bra: You must wear the compression bra continuously for the first few weeks, only removing it for brief showers (when permitted by the surgeon). It provides essential support and minimises swelling.
- Activity: Avoid lifting your arms above your shoulders, strenuous activity, or lifting anything heavier than 2 kg. You will be able to take short, slow walks within 24 hours (mobilisation is encouraged to aid circulation).
- Sanamentum Support: Our team provides continuous support, including check-ups, dressing changes, and dedicated assistance to ensure you are comfortable and following all instructions correctly. Your final check-up before flying home (around Day 6 or 7) is crucial for the surgeon to give you clearance for travel.
Mid-Term Recovery (Weeks 2–6)
Once you are back home, your full recovery accelerates.
- Return to Work: Most patients with non-strenuous jobs can return to work within 1 to 2 weeks. If your job is physically demanding, you may need 3 to 4 weeks off.
- Exercise: Light walking can continue, but you must avoid heavy lifting, jogging, or high-impact activity for at least 6 weeks.
- Driving: You can usually resume driving once you are completely off prescription pain medication and can react quickly and safely (typically Week 2–3).
- Swelling & Shape: Major swelling will subside, and your breasts will begin to soften and settle into their final, lifted shape.
Long-Term Recovery (Months 3–12+)
The long-term focus is on scar management and enjoying your final results.
- Scar Care: Scars will appear red and raised initially, but with proper care—using silicone gels or tapes provided by Sanamentum, and strict sun avoidance—they will fade significantly over 12 to 18 months.
- Final Results: Your final, beautiful results will be evident around the 6-month to 1-year mark when all internal and external swelling has fully resolved.
- Lifelong Consultation: Even after you return home, Sanamentum offers ongoing check-ups via video call at the 1, 3, 6, and 12-month marks, ensuring your long-term satisfaction and providing peace of mind.
Safety, Accreditations & Risk Management
Ensuring Your Well-being is Our Priority
Patient safety is paramount at Sanamentum. We mitigate risks through a combination of expert planning, stringent protocols, and collaboration with internationally accredited facilities.
JCI Accreditation and Highest Standards
All our operations take place in JCI (Joint Commission International) accredited hospitals. JCI accreditation signifies that a hospital meets a rigorous set of international patient safety goals, ensuring world-class surgical and hygiene protocols are followed.
Expert Team and Preventative Care
Safety begins before the surgery itself. Our surgeons conduct comprehensive pre-operative health screenings and medical assessments. We require necessary blood tests and imaging to identify and manage any potential risk factors, such as uncontrolled blood pressure or diabetes, before proceeding with the operation. During the procedure, a dedicated, experienced anaesthesia team—consisting of a specialist doctor and technician—continuously monitors your vital functions, dramatically reducing anaesthesia-related risks.
Managing Surgical Risks
While no surgery is risk-free, complications are rare. Sanamentum’s commitment to low complication rates is due to the vast experience of our surgeons and the immediate availability of state-of-the-art intensive care and emergency facilities within our partner hospitals. We transparently discuss potential risks, such as infection, changes in sensation, or poor scarring, but our proactive approach and meticulous surgical technique ensure our rates are well below international averages.
Results & Longevity
Enjoying Your Beautiful, Enduring Results
The goal of a breast lift is to create breasts that are higher, firmer, and more symmetrical, restoring the natural, youthful contour you desire.
What to Expect from Your New Shape
Following the surgery, you will immediately notice a difference in the position and projection of your breasts. They will look lifted, rejuvenated, and the areolas will be placed in a higher, more ideal location. The final, refined result becomes apparent after the swelling completely subsides (around 6 months to one year). The final appearance is often praised for its natural look and improved projection, allowing clothes to fit better and boosting self-confidence.
How Long Will the Results Last?
The results of a breast lift are considered permanent in that the removed skin will not regrow. However, the human body continues to age. Over many years, factors like gravity and natural loss of skin elasticity will cause some mild, natural descent. This will never revert to the pre-operative degree of sagging.
Maintaining Your Results
You can significantly prolong the longevity of your lifted shape by adopting simple lifestyle habits:
- Maintain a Stable Weight: Major fluctuations can stretch the skin again.
- Wear Supportive Bras: Use a good quality, supportive bra during exercise.
- Protect Your Skin: Use sun protection on your cleavage area and keep your skin hydrated.
- Avoid Future Pregnancy: If possible, complete your family before undergoing the procedure, as pregnancy and breastfeeding will change the breast shape again.
Combined Procedures
Tailoring Your Transformation
Many patients experience both sagging and volume loss, particularly after significant weight loss or multiple pregnancies. For these cases, a breast lift can be safely and effectively combined with other procedures.
Breast Lift with Implants (Augmentation Mastopexy)
This combination addresses both the sag (lift) and the lost volume (implants). The surgeon performs the lift to correct the shape and then inserts breast implants to increase projection and fullness. This results in a higher, rounder, and fuller appearance, making it one of the most popular combinations.
Breast Lift with Fat Transfer
For patients seeking a subtle volume increase or minor contour correction without synthetic implants, fat transfer may be an ideal solution. Fat is harvested from another area of the body (e.g., abdomen, flanks) via liposuction, purified, and then injected into the breasts to add soft, natural volume. This provides both a lift and a natural enhancement with the added benefit of body contouring at the donor site.

Cost & Packages
Transparent Pricing, Exceptional Value
One of the most compelling reasons to choose Sanamentum in Turkey is the exceptional value for money, delivered with complete financial transparency.
Breast Uplift | Breast Uplift Cost Turkey | Breast Uplift Cost UK | Breast Uplift Cost Europe | Breast Uplift Cost US |
Breast Uplift Costs | £3,100 – £4,000 | £5,500 – £6,500 | €5,900 – €7,000 | $7,500 – $9,000 |
UK vs Turkey Cost Comparison
A breast lift procedure in the UK’s private sector typically costs between £5,000 and £7,000, and this often excludes crucial post-operative care and ancillary costs. In contrast, a similar quality, fully all-inclusive breast lift package with Sanamentum in Istanbul can range from approximately £3,300 to £3,600. This represents a saving of up to 70% for a comparable or superior level of service and surgeon expertise. This significant difference allows you to enjoy a relaxing recovery with all logistics handled, while still saving thousands of pounds.
Sanamentum All-Inclusive Package
Our commitment to “No Hidden Costs” means your price is final and comprehensive. The Sanamentum package typically includes:
- The breast lift surgery fee and all associated hospital costs (operating theatre, surgeon, anaesthesiologist).
- 1-night hospital stay for observation and initial recovery.
- 5-6 nights accommodation in a 4★ hotel (breakfast usually included).
- All pre-operative blood tests and examinations.
- VIP private airport and hospital transfers.

- Your essential surgical compression bra.
- Comprehensive post-op checks and follow-ups while in Turkey and up to 1-year remote consultation.
(Note: Flights and personal spending money are not included, but our team assists with flight recommendations).
Price Factors
While we offer transparent pricing, the final cost can vary slightly based on individual factors:
- Scope of the Procedure: A combined procedure (e.g., breast lift with implants) will incur a higher cost than a lift alone.
- Technique Complexity: A highly complex Anchor Lift for extreme sagging may be priced differently than a simple Periareolar Lift.
- Implant Choice (if applicable): Selecting a premium implant brand (e.g., Motiva, Mentor) may involve a small price difference.

Patient Success Story: Sarah’s Journey to Self-Confidence
Sarah, a 38-year-old mother of two from Manchester, felt her confidence had been eroded by the effects of motherhood. After her second child, her breasts had significant volume loss and noticeable sagging, making her self-conscious about wearing certain clothes.
“I spent years feeling unhappy with my chest,” Sarah recalls. “I researched clinics in the UK but the cost was astronomical, and the wait times felt endless. When I found Sanamentum, their transparency and the JCI hospital partnerships immediately put my mind at ease. My consultant, Deniz, was fantastic and explained everything.”
Sarah travelled to Istanbul for an Augmentation Mastopexy (Lift with Implants). Upon arrival, she was met by her VIP transfer and settled into her hotel. “The in-person consultation with my surgeon confirmed the plan. He was so meticulous with the markings. The entire process—the transfer, the hospital stay, the immediate 7-day post-op care—felt seamless and luxurious. I never once worried about the logistics.”
One year later, Sarah is thrilled with the result. “The shape is exactly what I had hoped for—lifted, firm, and completely natural. I’ve regained all the confidence I lost. The scars are fading beautifully because of the scar care kit Sanamentum provided, and their remote check-ups meant I had support long after I flew home. Choosing Sanamentum was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I highly recommend them to anyone considering this life-changing procedure.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Detailed Answers to Your Key Questions
How long does the breast lift surgery actually take, and how long is the total trip?
The actual surgical procedure typically takes between 2 to 3 hours. This duration can be slightly longer if the lift is combined with implants or fat transfer (augmentation mastopexy). The total duration of your trip to Turkey is usually 6 to 7 nights. This timeline is carefully planned to include your arrival, pre-op consultation, the day of surgery (with one night in the hospital), and several days of essential post-operative rest and check-ups in the comfort of your hotel before you are cleared to fly safely home.
Is breast lift surgery painful, and how is the pain managed?
The surgery itself is performed under general anaesthesia, so you will feel absolutely no pain during the operation. Post-operatively, it is normal to experience some tightness, soreness, and mild to moderate pain. This is managed very effectively through a regimen of strong prescription painkillers that are provided by Sanamentum. Most patients report that the pain is significantly less than they anticipated. The pain typically subsides dramatically within the first 5 to 7 days, allowing you to manage any remaining discomfort with simple over-the-counter medication.
Will I lose sensation in my nipples after a breast lift?
Changes in nipple and breast sensation are possible after any breast surgery. In the initial recovery phase, it is very common to experience numbness, heightened sensitivity, or a tingling feeling. This is due to the manipulation and repositioning of the breast tissue and the tiny nerves within it. For most patients, normal sensation gradually returns over the course of several months, although it can take up to a year. In a small percentage of cases, some changes in sensation may be permanent. Your Sanamentum surgeon uses precise techniques to preserve as much nerve function as possible.
How long do I have to wear the surgical support bra?
The specialised compression bra is a crucial component of your post-operative care. It provides essential support, helps to control swelling, and aids in the long-term shaping of your breasts. Typically, your Sanamentum surgeon will instruct you to wear the surgical bra continuously (24 hours a day) for the first 4 to 6 weeks following your surgery, only removing it for brief periods to shower. After this initial period, you may be advised to wear a supportive sports bra during the day for another few weeks before transitioning back to comfortable regular bras.
When can I return to my normal exercise routine, including running?
You must avoid all strenuous activity and exercise, including heavy lifting (over 2 kg) and high-impact activities like running or jogging, for at least 6 weeks after your surgery. During the first 1-2 weeks in Turkey and immediately after returning home, light walking is encouraged to promote circulation and prevent blood clots. At the 6-week mark, you can typically begin to slowly reintroduce lower-body exercises. However, you should wait until the 8-week mark before beginning any strenuous upper-body workouts or heavy chest exercises to protect the incisions and healing tissues.
What about scarring? How noticeable will my breast lift scars be?
Scarring is an inevitable part of any breast lift, but the final visibility depends heavily on the technique used (Donut, Lollipop, or Anchor) and your individual healing process. Your Sanamentum surgeon will always use meticulous, aesthetically focused closing techniques and place incisions strategically to hide them within natural folds. Scars are initially red and raised, but with the dedicated scar care kit and instructions we provide (silicone sheets/gels), they will significantly fade and flatten over 12 to 18 months. Strict sun protection for at least one year is essential to ensure they fade as much as possible.
Can I still breastfeed after having a breast lift?
The ability to breastfeed after a breast lift largely depends on the specific surgical technique used. The Anchor and Lollipop techniques, which involve extensive tissue movement and incision lines, carry a higher risk of disrupting the milk ducts and nerve connections than the more minor Periareolar or Crescent lifts. While many women can still breastfeed successfully, there is no guarantee. If future breastfeeding is a high priority for you, it is vital to discuss this with your Sanamentum surgeon during your initial consultation so they can choose the most appropriate, duct-sparing technique available for your degree of lift.
What is the difference between a breast lift and a breast reduction?
While both procedures often share similar incision patterns (Lollipop or Anchor), their primary goals are different. A breast lift (mastopexy) is primarily performed to correct breast sagging (ptosis) by removing excess skin and tightening the existing breast tissue to restore a youthful shape. It typically does not involve removing significant amounts of glandular tissue. A breast reduction, however, involves removing not only excess skin but also substantial amounts of fat and glandular tissue to decrease the overall size and weight of the breasts, often to relieve physical symptoms like back pain.
What if I need help after I return home to the UK?
Sanamentum provides exceptional long-term support for our international patients. Once you have returned to the UK, your dedicated Patient Consultant remains available to you for any questions or concerns you may have. We schedule mandatory remote follow-up consultations at regular intervals (1, 3, 6, and 12 months) with the surgical team to monitor your healing and scar progression. You will always have access to expert advice for any medical questions that arise, ensuring you are never alone in your post-operative journey, providing you with continuous peace of mind.
When can I fly back home after my breast lift surgery?
You will usually be cleared to fly home 6 to 7 days after your breast lift surgery. This timeframe allows for the critical initial recovery period, ensures you are mobile, and most importantly, allows your Sanamentum surgeon to perform the final in-person check-up. During this final check, the surgeon will confirm that your wounds are healing well, any drains (if used) have been removed, and that you are medically stable for air travel. It is important to note that you must also be off strong prescription pain medication before flying.
