Signs of the Dehydration

  • Feeling thirsty
  • Feeling nauseous or dizzy
  • Having a headache or a rapid heart rate
  • Having dark, concentrated urine
  • Feeling tired or irritable

What You Can Do to Stay Hydrated

First, you should drink at least 8 cups of water which is approximately 64 ounces every day to maintain a healthy body. After your gastric sleeve surgery, you will have a small stomach, so it can be hard for you to accomplish your hydration goal first. Here are ways to motivate yourself to remind you to drink water every day:

  • Carry a bottle of water with you to remind you to drink water
  • Everyone has a mobile phone, set a timer for every 30 minutes to remind yourself to drink water.
  • You can log your drinking times to track your water intake.
  • In summer, you can turn your drinks into a snack by freezing them and sucking them on throughout the day.

Not All Drinks, Only Water

You should limit your consumption in terms of some beverages. You can drink water as much as you want but not much to fill your stomach fully. Beverages which are carbonated or contain a lot of sugar should not be consumed. Also, carbonated beverages can cause harm to your stomach as they make gas which is bad for your stomach during the healing process.
